The Kid’s Place is a free service open to all families in the community with children ages 11 and under. Head Start gives children from at-risk backgrounds the skills they need to be successful in school and life—supporting more kids, families, and communities on their path to success.Studies show that children who cannot read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade are more likely to drop out of school. Those same studies show that children who are not prepared for kindergarten are less likely to read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade. This phenomenon is called the school readiness gap.

Child Care Assistance programs help parents cover the cost of child care. Once approved for child care, the payment is sent directly to the provider selected by the parent (provider must be accepted by DWS). Childcare assistance will be reviewed every 12 months, income limit during the review period is 85% of the state median income limit, families experiencing permanent or temporary employment or household changes may be eligible for continued child care assistance.

GRANDfamilies is a support, advocacy, educational and crisis intervention program designed to provide information and support to kinship families so that the needs of safety and permanency for children can be met.

GRANDfamilies provides free services to all kinship families, regardless of their involvement with child welfare. Free services include: case management, psycho-educational classes for caregivers/adolescents/children, friend 2 friend events, and clinical services
